My Plastimo Neptune 2000 has a plain (8mm or thereabouts) pipe at the back. I can't remember if it is pointing downwards or straight back (it is 2000 miles away).

How do I attach the new armoured hose to this, as it also has the same size plain pipe on both ends? Is the Neptune pipe attached to a compression fitting inside the back cover that the hose end will go into, or do I need a joining fitting to put the two pipes together?

The gas feed is located on the left hand side of the back as viewed from the front (or the right hand side of the back as viewed from the back) and points DOWN = At least it does on mine!

Is the new armoured hose the same as you had before? If not, why not just use a plain high pressure hose and secure it with hose clamps? Both types of hose are rated to BS3212, and clamped connections are fine (as long as the clamps are the right size).

If you think you have a problem with the cooker connection, you'll probably have a similar problem with the isolator tap connection at the other end of the hose.

On my cooker, similar arrangment I bought a straight compression fitting and just fitted it to the copper pipe on the back of the oven, you should ideally not tamper with the cooker pipe as it will probably also have your pressure test fitting built onto it. A gas tester will require this to fit a manometer ?

It is also prudent to use some gas sealant paste in your fitting, this is the green stuff you might see in use around the original oven fittings.

From the looks of things, the armoured hose is one use only, there is very little spare copper pipe, so do be careful not to overtighten the compression fittings and ruin the olives!

hope this helps.
