I shall doff my hat to the old fella as I walk through Trafalgar Square this evening.
Incidentally, when the staue of that disabled young artist was unvieled the other the week, someone commented on the wireless how good it was to have a statue of someone who is disabled at last. I immediately thought of His Lordship immediately above them . . .
I used to work in the Old Admiralty building, now occupied by another government department. Inside there was a smaller scale model of the statue which was fairly impressive, used to give the old boy a nod every morning. They also have the old war room, intact complete with map of the world showing where the navy was on any one day. Oak clad, very impressive.
Interesting. I ran a dinner at the Old Admiralty Building last Trafalgar Day for a dining club I belong to. I was absolutely amazed it was avaiable that of all nights! Jolly good evening though. We've taken over the Naval Club this year in November to pay our rspects to his great victory; too much going on in October. I'm also on duty on the 23rd. October for the Trafalgar Bicentenary Reception at Guildhall which should be interesting.

STS Lord Nelson was so named because he was Britain's most famous disabled sailor so it hasn't gone unnoticed.
