Neilson for sale by Thomas Cook?

Best thing that could happen. Neilson could then get back to what it does well without the handicap of having to use Fly Thomas Cook. Dreadful airline.
Hope someone makes a good fist of it.

Thomas Cook having a hard time and selling the family silver, best thing that can happen to Neilson, who I rate highly after various holidays with them.

Yes I agree, a good company. Seems to me activity type holidays, whether they be sailing or anything else, are the only ones who will continue to do well when compared to the average package holiday. The latter are on their last legs due to the ease you can book the individual items on the internet. You get exactly what you want and normally cheaper as well.

The Sunday Times business section implied that Neilson may be sold by Thomas Cook. Are there any likely implications

And here is Pips reply....

I wondered when someone was going to mention this - bet there are a lot of forum regulars biting their lips!!

Short answer is your holiday will not be affected - as I imagine that's what your concern is. Plans for Summer 13 were put to bed ages ago - infact were well into planning Summer 14 at the moment!

Longer answer is more complex and has 'implications' for staff and suppliers more than our guests - with the article being a speculative one (I expected better of the Times!) we'll leave that till there is more substance around the story.

That said we were pretty amazed to make the front page of the ST - some one must think we're important! The story seems to have gone dormant for the meantime - but could erupt at any stage so just remember ....

As you all know your holiday cash is always protected by the various 'bonds/insurances' we have in place - But rest assured all at Neilson will always work tirelessly to ensure you have a great holiday - irrespective of any business issues that may go on behind the scenes.

We've been delivering great holidays for best part of 30 years now under 3 or 4 names and 5 or 6 different ownerships - so this kind of thing is nothing new - or anything for guests to worry about.

The constant factor is that Pip and Pete have been with the organisation since 1983 (give or take an inch) and have run the oversea operations since around 1991 or 1992 - when they earned an "Investors in People" award for the way they trained and developed the staff. They took over complete responsiblity when Owners Abroad (now First Choice) shortly after decided that running sailing operations overseas was not their core business.
