I am looking at the possibility of buying a boat from Ireland (Cork area) and wondered if anyone can recommend a locally based surveyor please?

Also does anyone know of a haulage company who could transport a boat by road from Cork to Belfast. Boat would be under 30 ft and under 5 tonnes.

Many thanks

Dave Drummy boat transport +353 (0)21 4775385
Surveyor http://www.tubridymarinesurveys.com/

Both located in Cork but provide service throughout Ireland, and even Europe as far as i know. Excellent prices too.
Dave very carefully brought my boat by road from Dublin to Cork in 2007,nothing seemed a problem for him.
Tubridy surveyed my boat last year, was very efficient, and did a great job!

I did this 18 months ago from not too far from Cork. Business in the delivery trade wasn't great so negotiating price downwards was pretty easy. But remember to price in lifts onto lorry and off. Republic seems to have very expensive cranes.

eugene tubridy surveyed my boat a couple of years ago and then looked after things for me when i had some work done prior to sailing it back to bristol. i would thoroughly recommend him.

Sail it round or pay someone else to have a holiday on your boat and let them sail it round (presumably via St georges channel and north past Dublin)

The boat is designed to go by sea.. .. not designed to go by road. more chance of a problem on the roads I think.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I have contacted the suggested people and things look promising.

I do agree that sailing would be much more fun but I would have to get the boat to Scotland and don't really have the time.

Hmm, got me thinking tho'............. anyone know of any delivery skippers they'd recommend?

Chox :)
