Need midweek winter crew in Essex, Kent, Suffolk?

I am getting withdrawal symptoms and need to go sailing immediately. Does anyone in the Essex/Thames/Kent/Suffolk area with a boat still in the water need a friendly crewman for the occasional midweek day or two.

I promise to buy the skipper beer ( Shepherd Neame preferably) or treat him to lunch or dinner.

Sorry no dinghies....Grew out of them years ago. Thames sailing barge with glowing stove , bar in the saloon and cosy berth with a very high TOG duvet is more my cup of tea.

Any other East Coast lunatics out there want to form a winter midweek crewing/yarning club? We could hold lunchtime meetings at the Ferry Boat Inn, North Fambridge. What a lovely pub that is and it has great food and beautifully-kept Shepherd Neame too.

Cheers

No takers then?

If I can't get a midweek sail in I will just have to round up the skipper and other retired members of our crew, go down to Burnham to look at the river, gaze in the direction of the sea, mooch around the chandleries for a while then head off to the Ferry Boat Inn, North Fambridge for lunch and a nice pint of Shepherd Neame's finest bitter.

Sorry Broadreach, can't offer you a sail as the boats in the shed. Can offer some anti-foul sanding practice though.

Ho Ho Dan

As much as I would love to help with a spot of bottom scraping, one of my favourite winter projects, my old war wound in my back has suddenly started giving me gip and is preventing me bending and stooping for too long.

I find the best cure for this problem is a pint or two of that wonderful medicine, Shepherd Neame bitter, taken with food, at the Ferry Boat Inn, North Fambridge.

Must be wonderful getting your boat in a shed ALL winter. I can only get mine in for about three weeks in March. However, being a wooden vessel she doesn't open up too much by spending the rest of the lay up outside under a decent cover.

Cheers
