Having changed the name of my new baby, I needed a replacement name plate. It's a brass plate 12cm by 5cm with the builder's details and boat name.

I found a chap on Ebay who does custom brass plates. I sent him a scan of the original and within a few days he'd drawn it in AutoCad including the builder's logo and the boat name in the font I wanted, and sent it to me for approval. The finished article arrived a couple of days after that. All for £26 inc p&p. I can't figure out how to put photo's on here, but take it from me, the result is fantastic.

No connection at all, just a very happy customer. If you need any engraving done, give Andy of AMcad Engraving a call or email on 07952 251882; amcadengraving@virginmedia.com

Does he do the kind that you see on the side of locomotives? I always fancied having one each side of the wooden coachroof. I know they used to be cast but maybe modern processes can produce the same result more cheaply.

That type of nameplate can be produced by photo-etching rather than by engraving, and will cost more than £26.
If you do fancy them, try googling "Diane Carney".
