I removed the SL400 toilet and replaced the valves but I had to butcher the hoses to remove them as they had hardened over 25+ years (does nothing last anymore?) - the pumps all worknow which is good butI cannot find anyone selling flexible 42mm hose to link the Blakes seacock and pump outlet. I tried heating and stretching 38mm hose with no success.

Any suggestions for a source in Ireland or UK?

For future reference, did you try a kettle of boiling water?

Most of my hoses are also 25 years old - I'm in the habit of replacing them anyway, but they usually come off much easier if you pour a kettle of boiling water over them.

They only make 40mm or 45mm. It's wire reinforced and I've already failed to stretch 38mm plastic spiral reinforced tube to 42mm.

It's a bit annoying having spent over E80 on a spares kit to finish up with a functional sl400 which I can't plumb in!

Yep, we've all been there.

Ignore the encapsulated wire thingy, that's there to keep the hose from collapsing.
Get a suitable size coffee mug (a tea one will also serve!).

Put mug close to hose fitting, boil a kettle of water very close by, really boiling, quickly pour into mug, shove hose end into mug for 5 seconds then shove onto fitting - unbelievably, it will work.

A good NHS burns unit close by also helps, or a pair of those rubberised (dark orange coloured) gloves.

Just before you heat the end of the hose and shove it on the fitting, try smearing a small amount of Fairy liquid on the fitting. As they say, lubrication helps! (y);)

We have to fit 38mm i/d tube onto 40mm insertion fittings.

The only way to get it hot and supple enough is with a heat gun or a gas soldering iron inside the tube. Hot water just won't get it supple enough.

It's best to heat the hose fitting as well as the hose if possible, the cold of the bronze will cool the warm hose rapidly otherwise. Offer up the hose to the hose fitting as closely as possible and pour hot or boiling water down the open end of the hose, If the boat is out of the water stop up the skin fitting

Heating 45mm while tightening the hose clamp will help evenly close the pipe to clamp and seal on the the spigot.

It would also be easer to remove than typing to expand 40 mm n to a 42mm spigot.
