Neder lands to Germany best crossing

Hi my son has a 9.5m Dutch canal boat. Top speed about 6knots downhill! He's wanting to cross into Germany. Which route would anyone recommend?
Concerned that crossing the ems estuary at Delfzijl is a tidal sea crossing & a bit worried that the boat won't have the power or keel to cope with tides/current/swells.
Any thoughts & knowledge much appreciated.

Delftzeil to Ditzumer haven in germany is 10 miles at the most ?
quiet day, incoming tide, traffic on the water might be more of an issue ?

Thanks my concern is more that the boat, which is basically a flat bottomed canal boat, would struggle with any swell.
I was asking if the estuary is sheltered & whether that's likely to be an issue. Sounds like if he picks a calm day it'll be OK?
