Is it possible to get a copy of Daniele,s fault finding procedure for Neco auto pilot, fitted to 53 year old Grand Banks 36, on switch on with course set it turns to port about 10 degrees and stays on that course, sometimes steering ok other times having to turn compass knob on head unit up to 180 degrees to steer intended course.
Thanks in advance. email address James.reinwalt@gmail.com

If you have not cleaned the carbon brushes and commutator (slip ring) on the motor, do that first. The motor will have two rectangular panels, curved, over the brushes. Unscrew, remove the brushes, clean to slip ring with contact cleaner and a cotton bud, full circumference. Remove all balcony dust and gunge. This builds up in the damping environment. New slip rings can be purchased on line, but don’t search for a eco, just search for carbon brushes and find once that fit.

Your symptoms are exactly the same as mine and cleaning the commutator worked. Perhaps it is the same issue.

I can sort out the test notes to you in a few minutes. I suggest you delete your email.

I have some spare parts such as the selsyn.
