If the heavy electro-mechanicals of the Neco are good but the autopilot brain is beyond redemption I hear it is possible to mate a modern autopilot to the control wires of the old Neco gear.

Have a Neco ourselves which was wonderful until the steering mechanism jammed. I know we have some documentation on board so if you haven't found anything by the time I next get back to the boat I'll dig some out and let you know.

in the meanwhile I found this on the web which refers to walkermarine and which has a newish phone no. so they might be worth contacting - their details are at the bottom of the pdf : http://www.walkermarine.com/walkerpdfs/2000XTE.pdf

Jonjo is right, the drive motor on the old Neco is a superb bit of kit. It is possible to convert it to take a modern electronic brain wich allows all the interfaces etc. I had mine converted to take the Raymarine 150 core pack and it has worked well for 2 seasons now. Greenham Regis will do the conversion.
There is also Derek Coventry in Emsworth who services old Neco's but he is no good for doing the conversion - as I discovered after two long and wasted journies.

If you locate the present Neco company, they will give you my details. I worked for the original Neco Marine for many years and ran the service dept. I can talk you through some problems and what spares are still available I can supply.
I'm the funny chap who doesn't drive! You can get me on 01243 377868.
