NCI now working on Channel 65

As the title says, The National Coastwatch Institution is now working on Channel 65.

You can call up the local station for weather info, radio check etc.

Beat me to it, we'll worth supporting. For us Solent boaters that means giving Solent CG a rest from radio checks. Also these guys WILL give you an idea what the weather is like off the needles for eg etc, like Solent CG in days gone by…

A great new resource

Not just the Solent but as Firefly says the stations are ON the coast and so you will get information in real time from their observations.

Nice opportunity to reply to this thread as I'm NCI duty watchkeeper at Fleetwood and we have Ch 65 duly tuned in.

I'm certain that any NCI station will be happy to give radio checks, weather info and try and help in any other way.

If you've time on your hands I know we need volunteer watchkeepers in Fleetwood and probably other stations too!

Thanks Jim. Figured it would be something like that but good to see a link to confirm the protocol.

Yep, useful - I probably would have called "Coastwatch" - as in "St Albans Coastwatch" or wherever - but it seems they prefer "NCI" to avoid any confusion with Coastguard.
