Added value, yes, but out of magazines, not IT.
There is a separate IT department here to look after the internal networks and systems.
The websites are more closely aligned to magazines than they are to the IT side of the business. We run a core team that looks after the website and database servers and underlying code infrastructure for the majority of the IPC websites. Despite the techie focus that team sits very close to several of the magazines that have key sites.
Many of the sites also have web editors that either work directly on, or closely with, the magazines. In the case of ybw.com you'll find that the majority of the online input now comes from magazine editorial staff and we are always looking at ways to forge closer links across print and online activities.
