MY BIKE1.gif

100 bhp, 0-60 3.7ish seconds, 150 mph if youve got the rognons and richard brunstrom aint about, whack the throttle and it will go to 11000 rpm faster than you can change gear and the ton is just a line on the speedo as you go faster!!
beats my old BSA Road Rocket where you had to lie on the tank and wait!!

Kids Stuff!! Do it without a fairing, and discover the real meaning of neck muscles and a firm grip....... Bandit 12s rule!!

Or me stinkwheel. RD350. Slower but somehow just as satisfying.

Anyone fancy Nurburgring for a Gentlepersons Smoker Weekend this year? Cheap and dangerous, not a lifejacket in sight.

Had two of those, fine bikes. The only problem I ever had was the collector box needed replacing as its made out of mild steel, the rest of the exhaust being stainless.
Where did you race Tom, I was in Bemsee and KRC in the seventies, Brands and Snetterton mostly.

Re: How olds your RD350?

I have special polished nylon hoops for the wheels, and the brake caliper dispenses fairy liquid onto the disk at every squeeze of the lever, particularly when its raining. Neat oil is fed into the exhaust, don't want the bother of burning it, and the swing arm is made from reconstituted spaghetti. Throw in 32 year old suspension gear, and you have the recipe for endless fun.
The Bandit 12 has been drag raced on Maxxis remoulds, my choice of hoop. I hate highsiding. The ability to spin up the rear wheel is almost as much fun as my old Z1 (or my KH500) on Avon Roadrunners. The trouble with bikes today is they are too fast and too competent, so I like to downgrade their true capabilities to have a lark. The Bandit had Nitrous fitted from '97 until about 18 months ago. I bought the bike back at the end of '95 when they were first out.
I have had a bike (or bikes) continuously since I was 9. Used to be on first name terms with the local hospital staff, but not recently(not had a major off since '78).
Anyone remember the Sporting Elite MCC in Merton, South London?

Just got back on to my Pan European after my 'off' in December. The guy who repaired her did a wonderful job - she's now a much better bike than when I bought her.

But you have never seen such a wet, namby-pamby, pussy-footing, arse-quivering heap of jelly as yours truly cornering on wet, muddy Cornish lanes!

Well done James,
pleased to see that:-
a) SWMBO allowed continued use of the velocipede
b) the bike is shinier than when you bought it.
c) you have the spunk to ride it again ( I read the posts)
d) You are considering an off roader for the rainy/ sticky bits of Cornwall?

Re: Sounds pretty standard then.

As I remember they went fast for their day. Didn't stop, didn't turn in and if you got the pegs scraping your were at the start of an accident. All thats in the dry. I remeber one race at Brands were it rained. By time we got out of Paddock Hill bend on the start lap, 25 bikes were having a lie down. I wouldn't have ridden one on the road for lots of money.

Did you ever try either the Kawasaki 400 triple or the first 900cc Z1's. Now the Z1 was really interesting.

went out on sunday with mate on his pan, peed down at first and then sun came out, v enjoyable, any way toddling along and come across plonker in range rover 4.6 hse, pan goes past but when i try to pass he puts his foot down, coming into a 30 so i stay behind knowing that there is a short straight immediately out of the 30 limit, whack it hard in 3rd and away we go, any way do the deed but hey those hse's pick up their skirts when plonkers put their foot down, hook it into 4th and give it some more to 10000rpm, take the time to look behind at mr plonker and give him the hand job sign, look ahead and realise that the right hander at end of straight is now here and i am going far too fast!! roll off the throttle and the vfr now starts shaking her head, uh oh!! now moi hasnt been in this situation for many a year, twist throttle ever so gently and lay her over, the old skills still there head settles down and mr plonker eating dust.
perhaps next time will wait for a slightly longer straight !!!

James, I was a away at sea and missed your posts reference your 'off' in Dec. When I did my bike course at Leconsfield (military driving school- there has to be some perks to the job...), all the instructors road Pan Europeans and I always fancied one. A true touring bike. Sadly cash limits the number of toys I am allowed. We do go 'wind in you hair motoring', but its got two seats and 4 litres of V8...
