Having just had a major failure on my computer which ended up with a dead power unit, dead motherboard and dead hard drive (ARGGGGG!!) I thought I was back to normal with my nice bright shiny super turbo system, but when I switched on to read the forum this evening, my monitor died.
I had an old monitor in the loft but only 800x600 so connected it up and tried to reset display to cope (was 1024/768 at 100Hz) could I get XP to do what I wanted - no of course not MS has changed the method of doing it from my previous ME. At last found out how to do it so I can get my evening fix.
Maybe If I cant get it fixed I will have that nice 19" TFT

Hi

When you boot up the PC hold down the F8 key. You should get an option to boot in VGA mode, your 800x600 screen will work and then you can set the resolution on the monitor control panel to 800x600 reboot and away you go!!

Cheers

Neil
