Are ntl the worst isp? My connection is attrocious, the tv; fortunatly, only works occasionally. Should you have the temerity to report a problem, they keep you on hold ; making a nice profit for them, for b....y ages. Does this constitute breach of contract ,so can I kick them into touch?

I have ntl and initially I had a lot of problems and being on hold for 40 mins and then talking to someone who had'nt a clue was not uncommon!!! However it was the only option in the village so had to persevere. Eventually tracked down to faulty modem. Now (touching every bit of wood in reach) I've had no problems for about a year with it online 24/7

Short Term Broadband ??

Is it possible to get broadband / good connection / " free " preferably for the time I have to spend in Scotland this December?
Only going to be there for a couple of weeks - I hope.
Use a wifi system in marina direct to Yahoo and obviously where I am now is not a normal ISP either - cos its free.
Anybody of the techie variety got any ideas as to how the resolve the problem please??

Have not really had a problem with NTL since I installed - either with their 56k or broadband service. Mind you I refused to have a connection through the TV (quite happy with their old analogue service) and insisted that they provided a proper cable modem. I also use a network card connection rather than USB.

Both the TV connection and the USB link are known weak points.

Yes it can be frustrating to get through to service , but on the 3 repairs (all out side / in box etc) the service whallas have more than made up for the crap help desk

The problem in our area is the closeness to the staffs "university"

Phone , never been a problem

tv, thinking of getting rid of the cable service as almost as good is available on free view

I've had the internet/phone free calls/TV package for 2 or 3 years now and I would say that once its working its OK. The Email server is a problem at the moment,and sometimes jams ups sending repeat emails but i now go onto the webmail option on their site and clear the problem email via that.

In the early days I joined a local campaign run by the Brackell News (paper) and did an interview that was published... I was so pissed off with their service.. Its got a lot better but I still find the billing pretty confusing.

I still find that the entire package with the free call/TV/ net the whole lot is cheaper that just my monthly phone bill used to be
