Just about to drill holes in my boat (Sealine S37 non flybridge) to mount a stub aerial for Navtex. The instructions say not near vertical poles or electric motors. Well, with the VHF and the Radar, I've got both on my arch. Experiences please.

Where ever you put it, fix it there temporarily first and try it out for a few days. I fitted mine, became worried that it was too close to other antenna and spent a lot of time later un-fitting it and moving it around to see if the reception changed. In the end it didn't really seem to matter where it was positioned at all but I wished that I'd found that out first!

Mine has been professionally mounted on the end of a cross tree above the radar scanner and it pulls in Split and other distant Navtex.
