Not quite what I said.

I have had Navtex on the last three boats in the UK. The set for the new one I am taking out in a few weeks to Greece but I have experience of it on friends boats there and it was all good. You can get very good reception of the Brindisi station in the Ionian and the reception from Turkey is pretty good all over the Aegean.

BTW the Italians transmit a continuous weather service in Italian & engligh on I think (will check) Ch78 VHF which you can hear right down to Levkas so long as there isn't a landmass in the way.

Reception from Corfu (StationK) is good over the Ionian.Getting a bit Patchy down in kolpos Korinthos. Recieve it ok in patras. Chanel 28 for the Italian met .They announce Channels before the Italian broadcast and repeat in English. very good too.Any one familiar with the Greek Television forecasts fits navtex.the tele is usually history.IE yesterdays weather or look out of the window.Limnos has been off the air frequently.Have not tried the Italian navtex yet.but going up to Prevessa next week ,will programme it in

Not bad - although the information is usually what you can see from the cockpit at the time and the stock phrase "no significant change" at the end of every transmission is to be taken with a little salt! I find it advantageous to tune into surrounding areas (Split/ Malta/ Corfu etc) so I can predict what is coming from where- with the scarce availability of any other info in greece, this at least gives you some idea!
