Hi
Ive installed a nasa navtex pro and the instructions state that it must be earthed.

1.How do you go about this as the set does not have an earth fixing point on the set?

2.Also where do you ground it too? I assume to a anode

I seem to recall reading about this somwhere but cannot find the article

Thanks

I've also got a NASA Navtex Pro, and it has never been earthed. It does not appear to have suffered in reception either, though I would suspect the earthing is to get rid of any shipborne interference.

The way I see it, the negative supply is in effect earthed via the engine to the anode. So maybe NASA infer that the case requires earthing.

As I say, mine's been in for five years with no problems and not earthed.

However, some boats such as my Dehler 36 CWS have floating systems with no connection to the keel etc. It is important that this is preserved and when I fitted my navtex 4 it did not receive very well. I therefore followed the instructions and provided an RF earth via a capacitor to the keel. Tremendous improvement!
