Navtex download to PC

I've been trying to download messages from a Furuno NX-300 Navtex to a laptop. I've made the connections and changed the settings for the Comms port to what the manual says. The manual then advises "Set up the computer to receive data." I switched the laptop on but have no idea on what program to use. HELP!

Anybody have any suggestions? Advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi drawp,

try hyperterminal first (in accessories in XP) and see if you can see data coming in.

A call to Furuno might complete the picture, as I am sure they often have this query.
There is a referencein the wiki to narrow band direct printing and SITOR B.
I don't know any more, but somebody else may come along soon!

PuTTY program also worked

PuTTY also worked very easily and is definitely the "no frills" program to use.
