just purchased the navman instruments with the bonus free repeater.just looking for some advice in where to place the repeater.up in the cockpit or down on the nav table??? i have read that i can repeat my fixed navtable gps to it but that would mean my wind/speed/depth would have to go down below any thoughts???? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

For what it is worth:- I have Navman log/depth plus repeater in the cockpit with Navmav vhf and Garmin 152 at the chart table.

This gives all info both in the cockpit and below (apart from wind, not fitted), as Garmin 152 takes nmea.

Navman repeater shows gps data, but only one item e.g. COG at a time.

I find I usually only look at COG & SOG in the cockpit.

i can put my wind/speed/depth in the cockpit, the repeater on the nav table with the fixed gps and run my gps to my auto helm ??? how does that sound????????

I guess you could do that but the only benefit you would get from the repeater would be to have Speed/Depth/Wind Data available at the chart table, is that really of great value ? Not sure what GPS you have but my Navman plotter can display this data from the cockpit instruments via Navbus or NMEA if required anyway.

I have 3100 series instruments (Multi, Wind and Repater) in the cockpit and use the repeater to display SOG and COG data as does Manoamica, I find this very useful. Also nice to be able to display time, course/distance to waypoint.

Hope you're happy with the instruments, I was very pleased with my choice.

BTW, I have found the telephone support available for Navman from Plastimo UK to be excellent should you need it.

i have a navman 2006 at the helm but ran a cable to the fly bridge so it can be moved "up top" where, hopefully most of my sailing can be done.
good luck#
