Navman echo sounder and log

Since May, my hitherto bombproof sounder/ log has been playing up. Get on the boat and fire everything up - all is well. After an hour the LCD starts loosing segments, eventually they all disappear and I have a blank screen. Eventually they come back a few at a time. I’ve checked the power supply and wiggled all the appropriate connections. Is it the heat or is it coming to the end of its natural life? Unit is about 20 years old.
