The LCD display of my Navman 100 depth sounder is no longer showing the bottom part of the numbers. This happened gradually over last season and the unit otherwise appears to work OK. It looks from my limited electronics knowlege that a new LCD is required (though I understand this Navman model ceased production in 2006).
I have been quoted a likely £60 just to look at the problem (Greenham Regis in Lymington). It seems these sort of repairs are no longer done by local electronics dealers - most now farm them out to a specialist repair outfit in Wareham. So having your local dealer take a quick look for a quote is no longer possible.
Does anyone know if there are any independent electronic repairers left in the Solent/Poole area who might be able to help?
It may be that a repair is uneconomic (I can get a new Naman 3100 for £115) but I thought it would be worth asking before shelling out for a new one.
