Is there a low cost option for viewing Navionics charts on a PC which would enable simple route planning, waypoint entry etc? I have heard that writing to Navionics charts on MMC can destroy the data- any comments?
funnily enough, was just reading a brochure yesterday. Navonics produce some tool for downloading onto a pc.Sorry cant remember quite what it was called, and i m sure they arent going to give you that facility for peanuts! Try a dealer?
I believe there is a viewer ... but I don't think it plots ...
I also would be very interested to have a program to use the Navionics cards ... or CD's ...
I have another question as well ... Seeing as some plotters can use two forms of chart - ie the Lowrance which can use Lowrance Freedom and also Navionics - does that mean that Lowrance can be used in other machines suitable fdor Navionics ?? as long as card form is correct of course ...
I understand that Navionics are about to launch a "PC planner" system similar to the one that C-Map have had for years. It will also be sub £100 as far as I can gather! Got my info from the Seachest nautical book shop in QAB marina, Plymouth (http://www.seachest.co.uk) who are Navionics dealers.
We were told at the Navionics stand at LIBS that the PC plotter would be out very shortly. Price is £99, so sub £100 was true, but only just! The software will have the ability to write waypoints to a CF card and upload to the plotter, in our case a Raymarine 435.
