Friend has Navionics installed on an Android Lenovo tablet, all working except the Help files.
He's getting an error message 'File doesn't exist or can't be opened'.
Anyone got a fix?

Not a great fan of Navionics
I use the free OpenCPN software.
Last summer it was successfully ported over to Android.
You can find it in the Play Store for about £7
All you would need is charts - I scan my own.
OpenCPN now runs on Windiws, Mac, Linux and Android.
It is a proper plotter navigator.

Out of interest Mike, have you tried on Raspberry Pi? (I only ask as that's what I'm looking to embed in my project and thought it's the sort of thing you'd have tried! ;))

Tom, no fix, but perhaps remove it and re-download/install or force an update? I do use Navionics on Andriod and on a Lowrance Plotter. When you say help are you referring to the info popup when you click on a map item? (Mine does work if that's what you mean...)

Edit: I should add that you won't need to pay again as it will be linked to the Google account and thus will know he's paid. (Just in case he wasn't aware of that!)

Thanks for your reply.
The problem is with the main 'Help' list accessed from the 'Menu' tag at the bottom of the screen which includes 'Getting started' 'Search' 'Navionics+' etc
I have emailed Navionics for him and if no joy early next week I will delete and re-download as you suggest.
Pretty sure it's something simple but I'm not familiar with Android systems.
He is not computer literate and is off to New Zealand shortly hoping to 'play' with Navionics to plan one of his 'bucket list' voyages this summer.
Hopefully I can sort it for him...

Ah gotcha... I've never used that help, but having just clicked it can confirm it works ok. I'd say it's most likely an installation issue or incomplete download?

I have had mine years and years and just update as well. However I am on a Nexus 5 so I am also on the very latest version of Android. The help file (when it worked) was just a text file that was tagged in some way and the app called the file with a tagged reference. If you then scrolled up and down you could see all the other sections as it was just a single file. Either the file is missing or the "reader" has changed with the android update. The file could even have been HTML with the tagging.

Navionics have replied to my email asking if he has installed a calendar / email management function such as WPS (Kingsoft) Office).
I have replied that he has and await their advice.
Watch this space...

Navionics have replied confirming the conflict with WPS (Kingsoft) office software on Android tablets which only affects the help files and they were working on the problem.
In the meantime they suggested uninstalling the WPS package.............
