Hi,

I need to get some charts for a Lowrance Elite 5 (mSD). Can anyone advise if the Navionics Gold Small 2 charts are any better resolution than the XG28? If I get Falmouth to Weymouth (5G560S2) it would probably do all I'll need for the next few years but might seem a false economy if the extra £60 gets the whole UK at the same quality with the XG28? (Best prices I've found are £110/£170 respectively) Does anyone know if there are other benefits with the Small? I've looked online but seem to keep going full circle! :o

As you can probably guess, fitted a new toy for the season! :D

Many thanks,

Robin

Hi Paul,

Thanks - I thought that would probably be the case, but seemed a small premium to get a 'complete' UK set and not have to swap them over. That made me wonder if there were other differences. I guess I should probably stump up for the XG28 - otherwise I'm bound to one day 'wander off the map'! :)

The unit has built in worldwide maps, but they are just that - no detail or depth etc.

Cheers.

I'd go for the XG28 myself, never know when you might fancy a change of scenery.
