This morning I received an email from Navionics telling me that my subscription to the App would expire in 7 days time, and inviting me to renew it; which I did.

I notice the new subscription begins today, and not in 7 days time, when the existing one expires.

A rip-off, albeit a very minor one (7/365 x £29.99 = £0.58) but it annoys me that Navionics does this, unlike anything else I subscribe to where subscriptions run consecutively. Seems very mean-spirited of Navionics.

Harrumph!

Or even a bit longer unless you need the clever subscription-only stuff. My subscription expired several years ago, but the downloaded charts still work fine. I think it would be dishonest to keep it as a main system without a subscription, but as a back-up lurking in a corner of my phone, I'm less particular

Ditto , mine still worked three years after initial sub , although i never really trusted it but never found error , but upon getting a new phone it has lost most of its ( useful ) detail , tho still works perfectly on the old phone !! ( Have not checked the i pad yet ) but will be renewing before serious use again .

I had the 7 day reminder on 1 June this year and renewed. Reading this thread I checked my subscription expiry date and found it has maintained the original 08 June date but one year on, of course.
Strange OP had a problem.

I received an email warning me that the subscription would expire in 7 days time and inviting me to renew. In the email is a "Renew" button.

Pressing that initiated the renewal process.

My account was debited £29.90. Receipt was acknowledged and I was notified that the new subscription would expire in 364 days from the date I renewed ; not from the date of expiry of the existing subscription.

Why have you renewed?
I bought charts several years ago and have never renewed. They don’t update, but hey, is that a problem?
