HI has any body any reconmendations for navigation software I could use as a backup for my HP 6015 PDA. It has GPS and I have TOM TOM road navigation installed

Maptech Navigator. I think you can now get the whole of the UK for about £98. http://www.maptech.com/

I have North Wales & Irish Sea and East of Ireland on my PDA. Must get the full UK version.

You may have difficulties having TomTom and Maptech loaded at the same time. It's a problem sharing the same GPS source. I did try this internal virtual gate software with no great success. Maybe other forumites have the solution.

Four years ago I bought a Navman PIN (aka Mio) PDA primarily to bring a boat back from Holland as I had no clear idea of what nav equipment was on board. I also took charts in large quantities, but the PDA was loaded with the Navman's Smart ST terrestrial and Maptech marine files, all of which ran through the Smart platform very successfully. However, daylight readability is an issue - you can't in strong sunlight on mine! You may have to ditch the Tom Tom in favour of Navman - or approach Maptech and see what they say. Their software has been favourably reviewed in the yachting press at various times - both on PDAs and PCs. Good luck navigating through the software minefield!
