I have been given a Navico tp100 tiller pilot for my Parker 21.
There is already a mounting cup fitted from a previous ower. It is fitted on the starboard side. It is 720mm away from the tiller.

I have found a pdf manual on the Simrad website that states the distance should be 595mm.....I see you can get pushrod extensions of 120mm......

Will a 120mm pushrod do the job for me ?

I did have one for more than 10 years but have now sold the boat. I think that there is a specific mounting distance from the pivot point of the rudder shaft. This cannot be changed. The tillerpilot must also be mounted a specific distance from the centreline of the tiller. The pushrods extend the length of the ram allowing it to be mounted further back towards the coaming on larger cockpit boats.
 
I think the simple answer is yes! It will ensure the rudder is central when the pilot is mid stroke which is what you want so it has an equal range either way.

You can also buy the mounting cup on its own. I would prefer to buy and fit a new cup rather than use the pushrod extension. It's a 10 min job to fit a new cup. Drill correct size hole, Araldite in place, Job done.
Just leave the old one in place.
 
There is no problem with an extension. I have a similar length one on my Autohelm. A few seconds to screw in on.

This might be something you can make use of. I found with my Autohelm that if it is unhitched from the tiller, without switching it off, and swung so that the push rod points forward in retracts fully. Then I switch it off and clip the end of the push-rod into a little rest. Makes a neat stowage for it in the short term.
