Never seen a wind transponder mounting wand snap at the top of the mast before but mine did. On the way to N Spain and we had only got as far as the Needles! With 3 days hard on the wind forecast, discretion seemed the better part so we high-tailed it and went home.
Took the offending bits off and sent it back to Navico, the now owners of B&G, Simrad and Lowrance I believe, and no quibble. They also had never known of that kind of break but a new bit is on it's way, FOC. Nice to see old fahioned good-will service is still alive and well somewhere.

No connection just a grateful customer so credit where it's due.

They had wind vane steering and things like that together with boats that steered themselves and they didn't have rivals with all sorts of toys that would make us v uncompetitive. But fair point Mr J. However as we were supposed to be racing we couldn't see the point of trashing the boat with no chance of sucess. Simply to survive didn't seem much point. Been there, done that and you were rude about the T shirt!

Re: Congrats

I've seen some funny readings come from a B&G wind trasponder, but never one snap in two. Perhaps it was merely trying to tell you that it was too windy to go out! Still, it's pleasing to see a nice resoution to your problem - well done to Navico/B&G. I doubt it's a feature of the system to break like that, so for the customer service alone I'd have them as a preferred supplier.
