I'm looking to order some Navicartes. Anyone know of a good mail-order site for these. I have tried the publishers (Grafocarte) without success - seem unable to accept payment from me and do not answer email.

I have also seen it said in other posts that they are easy to pick up in France. How good a selection do the French chandlers stock? Am I likely to be able to pick up some South Brittany charts in Bolougne and can any recommend a good chandler there?

You can get them from Amazon UK, Seachest or the RYA online bookshop. You also find them in chandlers or port offices down the canals.

The biggest chandlery chain in France is AD at: www.accastillage-diffusion.com . They don't do the navicarte range but the SHOM (French Admiralty) equivalent. For a mail order Navicarte try: http://www.marineshop.biz/Boutique/Produits.asp?ven=MarineShop&Pro=3299.
There is a small chandlery at Boulogne (but nearest AD outlet is at Gravelines).
As a general remark, AD is not to be classed as a swindlery: they have good gear and good prices. They say that if you find cheaper in another chandlery they'll beat it!
