I have a masthead tri light which seems only to comply with the sailing requirements boat is 7.5 mts to motor sail or motor I need a steaming light and stern light ? would it be ok to mount steaming light on pulpit

You need red and green running lights, a stern light and a steaming light which must be at least 1m above your running lights, visible through the same arc. Mount your r/g lights (or single combined light) on your pulpit and the steaming light on the mast.

you could mount a masthead allround white and a r/g bow light for use when motoring. The allround white can then double up as an anchor light.
