My Aqua Signal Festoon Bulbs have concave ends and were getting expensive and hard to find even in Chandlers. Halfords only had bulbs with convex ends otherwise identical at a fraction of the price. I drilled a small hole in the Nav light terminals so I can now use either concaved or convex ended bulbs. The car festoon bulbs are also more reliable for some unknown reason. Just thought this little tip might be useful to some of you.
All the best.

Well it is sort of interesting but I am not sure that I follow. I thought I had one of the smaller AquaSignal Nav lights. I have not had any trouble getting the bulbs so far it is just that they cost about £9 a go. I notice that the filament is parallel to the length of the bulb rather than across it (as in most bulbs) also the bayonet mounting pins are offset rather than opposite (as in car bulbs). Does what I am saying mean anything to you?

I also modified the arangement on my yacht about 4 years ago to use the car type. It was at 03.00 in St Peters Port and I needed to catch the tide up through the race to Cherbourg. Its worked perfectly ever since with no problems. The filament does go the same way and the bulbs cost a fraction.
