Hi I am looking to replace our current cockpit table with one made from Teak and smaller in length - I have found this one which would fit perfectly, but it seems to only be available in Australia!!

I have sent a email to Onward marine to see if they have one - does anyone know of another UK or EU supplier that I could try

Thanks

Nah! Current (EU?) regs prohibit the import of some sources of teak.... hence Nautic star and the other importers closing.
If you have a friend flying in from Indonesia, then ask them to bring as luggage?

I do have a plan ! - I can buy in the UK a non folding table, cut it in half down the length and then fit concealed hinges the same type as currently fitted to my table. All the tables all seem to have a marine ply core with teak strips fitted all round, I would need to fit teak edging on the cut hinge side to cover the ply core

We have a similar conundrum with sourcing a replacement table for our saloon. We want folding ends to the table and all we can find online is the outfit in Australia, who haven’t responded to my website query. Our solution is a local company who are doing some carpentry work at home who can knock us up a table top in oak at an acceptable price.

A friend had a table made by a local craftsman. The material used was an off cut from an engineered wood worktop which was free as it was surplus to a new kitchen at his home.

IMO, whatever you get for your cockpit table, it needs to be protected.
I, actually, hate wood - our flybridge table is made from nice smooth GRP.but in this case, it is more appropriate to use a nice teak table in the cockpit.
The reason that I hate wood is that it can deteriorate if not kept in good condition.

Soon after buying our current boat, we treated it to a collapsible wooden cockpit table which we have managed to keep in good condition.
Mainly with regular coats of teak oil.
But more recently with a PVC cover.
Cockpit tables are really useful for everything (repairing stuff and working on absolutely anything) when you are on the boat so a cover can protect it.
We used to fold the table up and put it in the lazerette but with the cover, we tend to leave it up.

Here's a pic taken just now from the cockpit security camera.

That cover is made from the same white PVC that is used on the cockpit covers so is strong and protects the table.
I made the cover with tapered corners so that the wind doesn't blow it off.
If we want to use the table for dinner, we simply lift the PVC cover off.

That’s good - would like to see a picture when it’s done 👍
