Naughty English Braids

Just came to the end of a roll of 22 metres of English Braids "small stuff". To my surprise, I found that I had not bought 22 metres of line at all. There was a length of about 18 metres and then, pinned (literally, each loose end was secured with a pin) into the coil of line and invisible at the time of purchase, another 4 metres or so.

Now that I call downright dishonest.
 
What are you complaining about, no one said that it had to be continuous did they? Never did trust the English much myself.
 
Had the same problem a few years ago. Trouble was I was using it as a messenger up the mast for a halyard I was removing - and the first I knew about that there was more than one length on the reel was when the halyard suddenly dropped in a heap on the deck, followed by the (too short) messenger.

My reel was bought as new from a chandler.

Bought at a chandlery - full price. Trouble is, it was a while ago, I have forgotten which, no proof of purchase anyway and most of the product used by the time the offending pins were uncovered. Neat trick..........
