I found this thread at another place
A couple of boats had broken free and ended up on the weir structure.

Thinks: aren't there substantial rope booms across the front of the weir?

I thought the picture shows the rope booms but the water level is so high I would guess the boats went over them.

Still its not good news if its your boat (not only that but it would not count as a trip in our log as our "house" rules are that we have to traverse a lock before we can log a trip)

Only for swimmers I guess. Did you hear the Boxing day swim went ahead from Datchet to Runnemede? How foolhardy!!!
 
What's weird, is that I was at Bell Weir yesterday, at about the time the photo was taken.

I only saw the downstream side, and noticed a fender stuck in the weir - what I failed to notice was the boat it was attached to!!!

Lockie was in his little booth / office, but seemed very, very bored...
