Looking at the new Compass catalogue, they sell a "Replacement Masthead Unit" for the Nasa Clipper Wind Instrument for £25. Does anyone know what this item actually is??

Looking elsewhere, replacement cups seem to be around £10, while a complete masthead transducer is more like £100. Is it a really cheap transducer, or a ridiculously expensive set of cups?

Anyone ordered one??

I've just been quoted 300 euros for a Vetus one, so £25 seems a bargain - anyone know if they are compatible?

Having said that, with Compass Marine, may be it will be in the same class as the threepenny tender... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
 
Also in the catalogue they are doing Deck Cladding (head linning) at £12.95 for a 25 metre roll which works out to 37p per square metre...... Not quite a 3p tender
 
The adhesives not a bad price too!

They also have an electric windlass for £129.00 , though this one has a plastic chain wheel, will probably last about 4 goes. The one with stainless steel wheel at £149 looks a bit better, but how good can they be for that low a price?
 
I spoke with Compass and they don't know - Apparently they've had lots of people asking the same question & are expecting an answer from Germany on Monday.

We shall see...
 
On the web site the link is the same link as for the log transducer, and it is described as a paddle wheel when you click into it.
£30 is about the right price for the paddlewheel - so me thinks they've got themselves confused.
The masthead unit is about £100 ish normally

I've got the German and Dutch paper catalogue here, and it sayz... the equivalent of a "paddleweel" nr 967 030, at 38.95 EURO.
Definitely not a complete masthead unit...
