NASA Target wind indicator

Our wind indecator seems to be missreading. If it is to be believed we can sail almost directly into the wind on the starboard tack, but only on a point some 90 degrees from off the wind on the port tack. It has a button marked align but when I press it nothing happens. Any thoughts on how to set it up again? Sadly it came with the boat and we don't have a handbook.

.......... and if the alignment procedure fails, then check the wiring. The wiring on mine was less than perfect and I experienced similar problems. Once corrected, it was (and still is) as good as new. Good luck.
