My speed log was reading about 50% slow compared with the GPS speed. The concensus on this forum was that the paddle wheel might have dropped a magnet (the wheel uses 2), so I replaced the paddle wheel. The log is hardly reading at all now, 0-1kn when it should be reading 6kn.

I have just called NASA, but they are at a bit of a loss. They have asked me to check the resistance between the centre pin and ring on the log cable. I will do this on Wednesday.

Any more throught from the forum?

Is the paddle wheel correctly aligned with the flow of water?

Mine is the same, has never worked correctly but lay unused for about 9 years before I found out. NASA not very helpful :(

Did NASA say what the resistance should be.

Just one thought have you used the calibration setting adjustment. Mine is at 50 and still low. This year it has not worked at all.

Rubbish Product.

Mine has been fine up to this season. NASA has quoted 80-100 ohm resistance between the centre pin and outer ring.
