nasa 'supernova' led nav lights

Re: nasa \'supernova\' led nav lights

ah, but it waould aslo cost a fortune and alienate the market they have, which is people who just want a quality product for the money that does what it says it does.

I like nasa kit, its fine.

Now I didn't say there wouldn't be a cost did I? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You are right, don't judge a product by its wrapper. However with so much marketing pressure on the buying public (don't say it doesn't effect you, it does?) companies like NASA can easily find themselves left standing with an ancient image.

As one poster put it, his NASA kit has far outlasted the Navman items. Who has the sexier image? Who sells the most?

Well I have just bought a NASA target windex to replace the old Stowe unit that must have been 10 plus years old ( before my ownership ). Quite honestly at £139 it was so much cheaper than any other wind indicator I was happy to buy it.

Re: nasa \'supernova\' led nav lights

But now your getting into the equivalent of 'don't buy a Bavaria the keels fall off' - true some people have had issues with the mast head unit, but Nasa have improved the design of them recently and do give good customer support etc.

We have all NASA instruments (Wind, Depth, Speed, GPS Repeater, Navtex). They came with the boat - but are functional and work fine. We have had the cups come off our mast head unit - but it was 10 years old and simply wore out - I expect most units do eventually, and NASA sent a new spindle free as a replacement.

I agree the new ST70 Raymarine units are nice looking with colour graphics etc, but I'm sure they draw more power, and at the end of the day I like to sail using the feel of the boat - I don't look at hull speed, wind speed, wind direction etc - I spend all day looking at a computer screen and go sailing to get away from that!

Just my thoughts ... I would certainly use NASA products - they appear value for money and do what they say on the tin.
