I just went to remove it inside the boat to clean the wheel, at low tide. The top has cracked now and I am worried when the water level rises at 3am , will it leak through the top ?

I assume by the top, you mean the threaded cap that holds the body in place.

The rubber o-rings on the body of the transducer will prevent water coming in.

It's unlikely the water pressure would force the body into the boat (mine is a tight fit) but if you are worried, you could wrap some adhesive tape around the cracked cap

Its fine and dry. I smothered the top with silicon last night. I think its a good idea to always keep a dummy one as a spare.

Threaded cap is fine its the top where the wire comes out is cracked.
ISTR the paddle wheel sensor body is a solid moulding down at the bottom end at the wheel, there shouldn’t be any water getting inside it to leak out of a crack at the top end.
As you have found it dry this morning, It wouldn’t give me sleepless nights.

My paddle wheel body is cracked vertically ..... (Echopilot Duo)

No water in at all .... all I did was remove / plug tube ..... bit of glue along to seal, let dry .... put back.

That was 3 years ago. Still fine.

I bought a dummy and will keep it on the boat as spare just in case. I will clean the paddle wheel next time from outside the boat as I don't think they are great when being removed from the inside.
