... makes standard sized yacht instruments ? Anyone know of any websites which compare the different brands ?

Thanks,

Boo2

Garmin and Furuno, not sure about other Navico brands, Northstar maybe. There's also Advansea now, who I believe arose from the wreckage of Navman after solving the QC problems. Full Circle had an epic with Navman so you could check his posts for them.

Thanks for all the replies.

The TackTick wireless/solar instruments look very cool but the prices make Raymarine look like entry level stuff. Does anyone have any experience of these and if so are they as good as they look ?

Yes they do what they say on the tin, no fuss no bother. Whilst they look more expensive if you factor in the cost / time or running in cables they do cost in.

If I was fitting out a new boat they would be my first choice, if you already have cables in for power Tack Tick do a version that does way with the solar charging which makes them cheaper.

B&G and NKE are the two top brands.
They are significantly better than the opposition.
Even my wife commented that holding a B&G wind instrument in one hand and a raymarine in the other "The Raymarine looks and feels like a toy in comparison"
