I bought one of these at the Show, and the Installation Manual is up to Nasa's usual standard, consisting of eight lines of text on a piece of paper.

It explains the connections to the E Series NMEA, and then says that if you wish to receive 518kHz the red must be connected to negative

But it does not state which negative - NMEA or 12v power.

Can anyone explain? Many Thanks

connect 'em up to the NMEA wires on the E80 and if it works great - if it doesn't then try the other way round.

Don't forget to set up the input on the E80 screen under settings.

System diagnostics will show errors in the transmissions..

It's a bit confusing really. This is what it says on the scrap of paper Nasa supply:-

' Connections for Raymarine E/C Series is as follows:

PC NAVTEX Engine C/E Series

Black White

Shield Green

Red - leave unconnected to receive 518kHz (International)
OR
connect to negative to receive 490kHz (National, local language - available in certain areas only)'

That is the sum total of instructions supplied! The red lead in question is part of the twin core screened NMEA output from the Engine.

All resolved - I Emailed Nasa last night and they responded this morning. So documentation not very good but service excellent.

The red lead needs to be connected to 12v negative for 490kHz
