NASA Navtex - Bright Screen of Death?

Just been to check boat and switched on all electronics as usual.

Strangely, the NASA Clipper Navtex only came on with a bright screen - no text. It stayed bright despite all button presses, and showed no enthusiasm to display anything other than the bright screen. I tried the 'all 4 buttons at once press' reset system as well, but no change.

Apart from sending it back to NASA workshop, does anyone have any idea on this problem - or has anyone encountered this phenomenon before?

I don't have the manual here, but I had something similar happened, and it was to do with the "contrast". I had inadvertently pressed a wrong series of buttons, and like you, I thought it had died. Try the sequence of buttons for contrast.

Press all four keys together to do a software reset. Then hold down the control key and repeatably press the down key to get the picture back. It worked for me.
