Just looking to boost our safety equipment a bit.
We have PLBs and a SPOT beacon on board. We have systems on board which are aimed at preventing MOBs but just in case...……..!!
This NASA system seems useful. On board in the Med it would be teamed with an instruction to all crew on what to do if the alarm goes off
IE press MOB on plotter etc then the usual MOB palaver.
I'm trying to avoid the usual general pros and cons debate ( wishful thinking?) but would like to hear specific comments on this bit of kit ( false alarms etc)
Thanks all.

I have a single Olas wrist device but prefer the idea of the 'dedicated' NASA system . Yes the Olas does record the gps location at time of alarm ( provided the phones gps is working ok). We are a group of co-owners so each group would need to load the app and be sure that that phone was always on and where the alarm could be heard. I was also not too impressed when I tried to navigate to the MOB.
I like the the fact that the NASA is part of the boats equipment and 'when its on its on'.
The NASA monitor has a very small battery draw, quite a bit less than a mobile in fact.
As with many of these safety devices, of course, they are no good if the crew are not briefed to use them.
Olas devices were (IIRC) around £50 each, the NASA monitor and 4 devices is around £250 so not a lot in it

If I recall correctly the NASA MOBi system has a relay contact that can he connected to and external MOB input on most plotter except OpenCPN. This I did raise some time ago but did find a workaround.
