Lately our clipper wind has taken to only displaying ‘On’ when powered up. After several minutes it usually starts reading correctly but the time taken to do this seems to be taking longer and longer. It does the power on ‘countdown’ and then just displays the text ‘On’

Turning it off and makes no difference. It’s three seasons old. I’m pretty confident it’s not an issue with the plug at the top of the mast as I had it all off at the start of the season. And the wiring was new when fitted, no chaffing I can see and there is no deck plug, it’s continuous from instrument to mast top.

Im aware that they are regarded by some as not great bits of kit, that aside, any immediate thoughts on the problem?

Mine has taken to just going blank, sometimes on switch-on and sometimes after working normally for some time. I have noticed, though, that it has lost the wind direction calibration - so maybe a problem with data storage? Do they have a 'keep alive' battery? My NASA Wind is over 20 years old, now, so they're not all bad!
