Hi

had a quick peer at our log impellor at the weekend. I think I need to change the paddlewheel.

it doesn't appear to be screwed in so how do I change the wheel - is it easy?

the unit was inherited with the boat so I don't have instructions or anything

many thanks

nick

good - thanks a lot - that easy :) I didn't want to go abusing the pin without checking first, just in case I buggered the impeller. The depth sounder is already deceased coz the coaxial socket has broken - so I've just emailed Nasa about it.

cheers

Hi Nick,

It's quite straightforward. There is a pin which is what the wheel spins on, you should be able to see clearly with the unit removed, you can drive the pin out by gently tapping with a hamm using a similar size pin such as an old pop rivet. If you place a nut on the other side when you do this it will support the housing and allow the old pin to come through. Don't be tto rough as you don't want to damage the housing. Whe you refit dirve the pin in making sure it is flush with the outside of the housing or you won't get the thing back in to the tube!

Took me about 5 minutes so you shouldn't have any problem.
Good luck,
Dave

thanks Dave

incidentally NASA have replied saying that they will fix the depth head unit co-ax socket for small amounts of money which is excellent - so full marks to NASA customer service
