Mine's packed up. All the display shows is "out".

Reading the blurb, if the display reads "out", then the transducer is not connected.

I disconnected the transducer and stuck a multimeter (cheapo) across it. It's either a high resistance, or an open circuit. There was a spare transducer on board when I bought Rowana, and I tried pluging this in with no sucess. It also is either a high resistance or open circuit as the same multimeter gave no reading.

I'm now a bit confused. Is the spare transducer duff as well, but who would keep a duff one on board?

Is the problem in the display unit, and how can I tell?

Now, do I buy another transducer, and from where?

Or do I buy a complete unit?

What would you do??

????????

You will also get OUT if the txducer is attempting to tx through air, trying dumping the spare over the side to test it.

Did that, but no joy.

Also put some castor oil in the tube to ensure good contact.

Did you try adjusting the gain threshold setting? try setting it at about 1.5mtr and see if it makes any difference.
I have a new transD for the clipper/ duet but would prefer to hold on to it.
I bought a paddle transd thru hull mounting tube from, I think, allgadgets.co.uk

If all else fails, send the whole lot back to NASA. They have a "varied" reputation for customer service - but I had a similar problem at the beginning of this season, and they turned the unit round in 7 days -cost £50.

Didn't try that, so I might give it a go.

It was working fine, but just decided to pack up while I was away on my summer(?) cruise.

If you do need a new td I have one taking up space which needs shifting.

Is that the transducer only?

How much, including p/p, to Aberdeenshire?

When switched on, can you hear the ticking noise. Regardless of what the depth reading is showing, you should still be able to hear the ticking.

Is that from the display, or the transducer?

Can't say I've noticed it when it was working, but the transducer is buried in the bottom of a locker.

you can hear the pulse from the instrument head and the transducer.
Mine burnt out a resistor when i first connected it, couldnt be bothered to send it back so i just asked nasa the value and replace it. been fine now for six years.
