According to the BM1 manual, I should be able to adjust my Battery Capacity value by holding down the V&A button until I see the current capacity value, and adjust up or down using the Time and A-Hr buttons. Trouble is, nothing happens.

Am I missing something?

Cheers, PT

Just installed one today. Adjusted as per the instructions. You need to disconnect the power (red wire) from the BM1 then press the V/A button and, while holding the button in, reconnect power. This may take two people depending on where you placed the bits on your boat. I found that I could reach the button and the little terminal block at the same time and was able to do it by pulling out the red wire, pressing the button then poking the wire back in. I could then release the button and do the clamp screw up. After adjusting the BM1 I then pulled out the red wire a second time and reconnected to get it out of adjust mode.

As a matter of interest, Yacht Yogi or PT, did you connect your BM1 to both your domestic battery and your engine starting battery? If so, when selecting the start battery on the BM1, does it just display the battery voltage?

Cheers, Allan

You need to disconnect it , first , hold it down then re connect . If you need more help I see if I can email you the instruction

But the instructions on the Nasa website don't say that you have to disconnect it?????

In the instruction it dose

Well, you certainly don't have to on mine!...... you simply give a LONG press on ILUM button to get into 'Eng' mode from where you can set the battery capacity; temp; zero-offset.

Are you talking about the COMPACT model? ... this may well be different.

Edit: I do notice that in a recent 'advertorial' in one of our favorite mags it says that the BM-1 'never needs to be reset' (whatever that means. AHr ????).

Perhaps the software has been changed?

Yes, it seems that the people who say you have to disconnect the power have the BM1 Compact version, not the usual BM1.
