Anyone with experience on the above? Seems to be a new miracle cure waiting to be busted or is there something to it?

So far I busted the Lanoline and the chilli powder myth. Those were cheap to try and we all had a good laugh.
That Nano Stuff however is expensive.

Any real world experiences anyone?

Didn't think that nano antifouling was yet in production, although lots of research is going on. Where have you seen it, and how much was it?

[/ QUOTE ]I'm afraid you've maybe misinterpreted that product, and others like it. They use the term "anti fouling" in a different sense from the way many boat owners would understand it. These "nano" products are basically aimed at stopping dirt sticking to the surface - for example, you can get "anti fouling" to treat tablecloths.

The product you've linked to is essentially a polish/sealant, similar to the ones offered by car dealers on new cars. You'll notice that the website says "Suitable for underwater areas", which should raise a query. It also says that "The sealed surfaces need further regular cleaning..."

If you do a bit of quick Googling, you'll find some further info on this stuff. Apparently it has to be applied to a perfectly smooth and clean surface, in the absence of sunlight and dust. That makes it a bit tricky for most people to use!

All is not lost, however, there is a lot of research going on into the use of nano-technology to prevent biological fouling on ships, and in time this could produce a workable product. There's some interesting reading on the AMBIO website.
