cant say a great deal without specific model numbers etc but i have heard good reports from people with Nanni diesel engines and yes i have heard they originate from Toyota.
cant speak for the nanni but australians tend to buy toyota trucks cause everything else breaksdown and that includes landrover so when yor neighbour is 300 miles away how far is the RAC ? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Seen a lot of Nannis here as we have a main dealer on site. Very impressive - clever fitting of the marinising parts to make servicing easy too... They've just bought out a freshwater cooled twin cylinder yachtie engine that fits in the same space as a Yanmar 1gm single raw water cooled engine. Progress at work! If you need to know about a specific engine size then give Dan a ring at Marine Wise 01752407575 - very helpful and has a good knowledge of all the Nanni range.
Block and ancillaries as per Landcruiser engine, had a 200 hp unit in our Merry Fisher 805. Tough as old boots and easy to work on. Can confirm Tritonofnor comments that Marinewise are the people to speak to, they commisioned mine and looked after it untill we upgraded, very efficient and knowledgable.
Hi - got one fitted in my Merry Fisher 805. Never misses a beat, simple to maintain and uses about a litre per mile at cruising speed. Gets my 805 to about 17 knots fully loaded. Marine Revolutions at Lowestoft look after mine - Mark Rix is a bloody nice bloke. Watch out for the main dealer - your only option is AR Peachment at Brundall here in Norfolk. I don't rate them very much - took them an age to sort out my replacement temperature sender. The spade connector on the top split and I went through 3 wrong sensors before they finally got me the right one - I have a very understanding engineer .... Mine also works nicely in tickover on the Broads with only a bit of exhaust (poor thing - it wants to work hard)
Second all the above comments. I've got 2 200hp lumps in my Antares 9.80 and very good. Tough, simple, reliable and economical. What more do you want. It's the 3L Toyota Land Cruiser Block.
